A qualified Body Control Pilates® Teacher

I'm also a CanRehab trained Specialist Instructor in Cancer and Exercise Rehabilitation.

Based in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, I use The Body Control Method® to teach Pilates to small groups of individuals.

My aim is to encourage movement, re-balance the body and promote a stronger mental and physical wellbeing.

For me, helping people remain active, throughout any period of their life is, the greatest gift I can give…

So, Why Pilates?

Pilates is suitable for people of all ages.

It is a form of exercise which focuses on creating ‘core’ stability to help improve balance, posture, strength and flexibility for the longer term.

Based on functional movement, Pilates is practised to assist with everyday activities.

By concentrating on intentional movement in good alignment with breath control, the emphasis is to create quality of movement rather than quantity.

By connecting the mind and body in this way, Pilates teaches you to live in the present moment.

It can also help boost mood, as well as manage symptoms of anxiety and depression.

My Pilates Journey

Like many, I was SO busy juggling my work demands, home life and general day to day activities that I didn’t feel I had the time to stop and take a break. As a result, my work-life balance was completely out of kilter and my wellbeing was starting to suffer.

It was only when a ‘niggle’ in my back eventually stopped me walking, that I sought help. By then I had two bulging discs and a trapped sciatic nerve.

My physiotherapist recommended I try Body Control Pilates®; initially to aid my recovery, but also to maintain my active lifestyle.

At first, it was a challenge for me to commit to a weekly class.

But after a year of regular ‘me time’, practising The Body Control Pilates® Method, I found I was physically and mentally stronger.

Change happens through movement and movement heals

So I decided to become a Teacher...

The positive benefits I felt, encouraged me to enrol on the world-renowned Body Control Pilates® Matwork Teacher Training Course and qualifying to teach is one of my proudest achievements to date.

Now I share my knowledge and experience with others; teaching people how to move safely and effectively through exercise, so they too can enjoy the mental and physical benefits of Pilates in their everyday lives.
